Booga Bag Progress

June 27, 2007

I finished knitting my Booga Bag yesterday for the Summer KAL – CAL Purse Roundup:

Booga Bag

As you can see, I’m still working on the i-cord handle. Last night I went to Lollicup with the Arvada Knitters and Christie showed me how to knit i-cord (since she was also making i-cord handles for a bag). Thanks Christie! This certainly isn’t a hard technique, but it sure does take a while! I had hoped to be able to felt my bag and i-cord tonight, but that’s not going to happen. The picture shows how much I was able to get done in about 3 hours last night…and I have to make this i-cord 5 to 6 FEET!!! Holy cow! This is going to take a while :)

Weekend Knitting

June 25, 2007

So, this weekend I went to 2 different knitting groups, and forgot my camera both times :(

On Friday night Stacey had some people over for beading & knitting. We had a lot of fun! Nachaele and I found a very creative way to wind some yarn:

Saturday I went to Knit Knack to spend time with some of the Arvada knitters. I’m almost done knitting a Booga Bag for the Summer KAL-CAL. Then I just need to felt it and post pictures!

I haven’t cast-on for Tomato yet because I want to finish the bag first. I know this sounds odd for a lot of knitters out there :) I just don’t seem to have that much time for knitting, and I make weird knitting errors if I’m not (at least mostly) looking at what I’m knitting. I just feel like I’ll never finish anything if I keep starting something new!

I also bought some different yarn on Saturday to make the Dream Swatch (opens as PDF). I really didn’t like how the other one was looking, so I ripped it out.

Hopefully I’ll have pictures of knitting progress soon :)

Fun Knitting Night

June 20, 2007

Last night Nachaele and I went over to Stacey’s for knitting and a lovely dinner of PB & J, chips & salsa and Mojitos! :)

Here I am wearing my shrug!

Wearing my shrug

Nachaele brought me this Araucania Yarns Nature Cotton for my One Skein Wonder! Thank you!!! Since she said I would only need about 1 & 1/2 skeins, she’s going to use the other 1/2 to make a OSW for her niece. Just let me know what other colors you want, and I’ll pick them up for you, Nachaele!

Araucania Yarns
Charlie just had to get in the picture :)

I went to Stacey’s a little early so we could find a new project to start. We decided to knit the Tomato from No Sheep for You. I’ve been wanting to knit that, but I hadn’t figured out what yarn I wanted to use. Stacey had quit a bit of Cotton-Ease in her stash and she let me pick out some colors! I’ll be using Mint for the main color and Blueberry for the pattern. Thank you Stacey!!!

Jesse & Tomato
Isn’t Jesse so cute?!?!

Check this out! I’m learning how to knit Continental so I can do the pattern in Tomato:

Continental Knitting

It’s a little tricky! It feels so weird to hold yarn in my left hand. I’ll need to practice some more before working the pattern in Tomato!

I Finished The Shrug!

June 18, 2007

Finished Shrug
I know, totally boring picture. I’ll try to get one of me wearing it soon.

Pattern: Easy Knitted Shrug by Cindy Evans; purchased from Colorful Yarns
Started: Tuesday, May 24th, 2007
Finished: Sunday, June 17th, 2007
Yarn: Cotton Fleece by Brown Sheep Company (about 3 1/2 skeins)
Color: Rue

This was a nice, simple project for my first garment. I know I could have finished it sooner, but there were days I was only able to knit 1 or 2 rows, or nothing at all.

I’m thinking about doing this pattern again using Malabrigo yarn for a fall/winter shrug. But first, I want to knit the One Skein Wonder, and Stacey and I are going to knit the Hourglass Sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts with our Plain & Fancy yarn :)
