Tagged Again…

September 27, 2007

…this time by Nachaele to post 8 things that most people don’t know about me.

1. One of my favorite Christmas gifts as a child was a hammer and saw! I think I should have become a carpenter :)

2. I am a perfectionist. This, of course, causes problems for me when I learn how to do something new, yet expect want to do it perfectly the first time!

3. I hate having nothing to do. I used to read my book or do math homework during commercials! I obviously wouldn’t do very well at meditating!

4. I miss the green grass & trees from Wisconsin (although seeing tumbleweed still makes me laugh).

5. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis when I was 12 and Temporomandibular joint disorder around the same time. After a while neither really bother me anymore. Unfortunately, both flared up again in 2000.

6. I was a tomboy growing up.

7. I hate being the center of attention (even if it’s something nice like a party or being praised at work!)

8. In WI, my family had a baseball diamond in our backyard and a shuffleboard court on our driveway. And I love board games :)

Black Water Abbey Yarns

September 26, 2007

Sunday I got to spend the afternoon at an open house for Black Water Abbey Yarns. I bought this Celtic Tote pattern and 3 skeins of the Bracken colorway. I also got a cool Celtic Knot button to add to the tote.

Although I hadn’t planned on buying anything else, I made the mistake of checking out what Stacey & Genia had purchased :) The each bought the yarn and this pattern for the Jen Cardigan.

I didn’t buy any yarn yet, since I’m not exactly sure what colors I want to use. I’m thinking about Dark Charcoal (2nd up from bottom, left side of color card above) for the main part of the cardigan and Pink Heather (5th down from top, left side) or Iris (2nd up from bottom, right side) for the cable detail on the sleeve. You can see the colors a little better here (scroll over yarn for color names).

I love how simple this cardigan looks! Here’s a better image of the sleeve detail:

Have a Flickr Account?

Then you can help. If you, or anyone you know, posts pictures of your children or grandchildren on Flickr, please check this out.

People have been using pictures of children posted on Flickr to create fake profiles on a website called Orkut! I can’t believe Google (owner of Orkut) would allow this to continue, but they are. Please read this post by Sarah to see how you can help stop this from happening; her daughter’s picture is one of the many photos being used WITHOUT permission to create fake profiles.

Name Meme

September 23, 2007

I’ve been tagged by Hannah for this Name Meme.

Here are the “official” rules:

*Players must list one fact, word, or tidbit that is somehow relevant to their life for each letter of their first or middle name.
*When you are tagged you need to write your own post containing your first or middle name game facts, word, or tidbit.
*At the end of your post choose one person for each letter of your name to tag.
*Don’t forget to leave a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
*If I’ve tagged YOU, please join in on the fun!

T- Travel: My family has always gone camping & taken summer vacations. We’ve traveled in (or at least through) most of the states, taken a cruise in Hawaii, gone to Canada a couple times, gone to Mexico and visited an exchange student in Venezuela (for 4 weeks!!). In college, I spent a semester in Spain and then traveled in Europe, visiting another exchange student in Switzerland.

E- Edgerton, WI: I grew up here and lived in the same house (with the exception of dorm living in college) until 1999. Then, after living in Milwaukee for 1 year after college, I decided to move to Colorado with my best friend Brian!

R- Rabbit: I used to have a pet rabbit named Cottontail (very original, I know). I won him at the local carnival when I was in grade school or middle school! I really love all animals and currently have 2 cats, Charlie & Kennedy. (OK, so this was just a lame way to put my babies in here)

Charlie & Kennedy
Poor Charlie! They don’t typically share this bed,
but Kennedy just had to be close to her!

R- Reading: I love to read! Do you remember Book It? It was so fun in grade school when we got to order books towards the end of the year. This really helped with the long hours in the car on summer vacation! Now that I’ve started knitting, I don’t have as much time to actually pick up a book and read it. I’m so glad there are audio books!! I can listen to them on my way to & from work, and even while I’m knitting :) (But of course, I don’t knit while driving!)

I- Imagination: I always wanted to become a writer. I have such a vivid imagination, but whenever I tried writing a story, I never felt like I was able to put onto paper what was swirling around in my brain. I have a lot of unfinished stories I started when I was younger; they sound awfully silly when I read them now. Maybe I should have become an editor instead?

E-Environment: Although I need to do better, I try to recycle what I can and conserve energy. I wish I could afford a hybrid vehicle. Actually, I wish I didn’t have to drive at all. I’d love it if I could walk or ride my bike to work! I love being able to go outside and enjoy nature.

This was a lot harder than I thought it would be! Instead of tagging anyone, I’ll let you decide if you’d like to do this! If you do, please leave me a comment so I can read it on your blog :)
